We thought you might like to know the
story behind the woman who is the namesake
of the delightful dessert you’re about to enjoy.
She was a lady of uncommon compassion,
whether attending to wounded soldiers as a
nurse in World War II or bandaging every
skinned knee as the resident medic to every kid
in our neighborhood.
She was simply Pearl to our dad, Mom to us and
Bubbie to her five grandkids. But her title of
Auntie Pearl extended way beyond her nine
Nieces and Nephews and their families. She was
Auntie Pearl to countless college students, who
raided the Nieces and Nephews care packages
that came without fail the week prior to finals
every semester.
Those packages were filled with a variety of
home baked cookies and to-die-for chocolate
brownies. There were always plenty of brownies.
And it’s a good thing, because those brownies -
each one painstakingly packaged in its own
piece of cellophane - were always a big hit. It
really didn’t matter how large or small the
campus, word always spread when Auntie Pearl’s
packages arrived.
Now we’re extending the circle that knows and
loves Auntie Pearl through her marvelous
brownie recipe. We hope you find her brownies
special. We promise you the woman who
originally created them certainly was. Enjoy!
